Artisans interact with potential buyers & exporters at Shilpotsav

The Minister who attended Shilpotsav 2014, the annual fair of artisans from across the country here also said that the event spreads the message of poverty alleviation through concessional finance and marketing linkages.
Significantly, buyer seller meets are being organized during the ten-day artisans’ fair as export houses and government departments dealing in export oriented activities have been invited.
Various national institutes under the Ministry have showcased their products and services in an informative manner at the venue- Dilli Haat.
The range of products includes - silk sarees, durries, readymade garments, terracotta product, jute products, dress material, kashmiri shawls/stoles, leather, cane and bamboo products, hand embroidery, bead products, pearls, imitation jewellery, lakh products, decorative candles, wood carving, block printing, wooden toys, tie and dye, wood, marble artifacts, handloom etc.
Gehlot also commended all the apex organizations such as NSFDC, NHFDC, NSKFDC, National Trust and NISD for their support in the endeavour.
In addition to providing social justice to the people through economic empowerment, the Finance Corporations are doing their best to provide marketing platform to the artisans, he added.
According to Gehlot, training to artisans in skill upgradation is another area where corporations are required to make efforts to identify the training needs of the artisans and arranging best possible training which will help them in competing with their competitors both in India and abroad.
