Rohtak, Feb 23 (KNN) With the Jat agitation not coming to an end, the businesses in Haryana and neighbouring states have been hit badly. Talking to KNN, the MSMEs from Haryana and Punjab said that they see the situation getting no better in the next few days.

Even after nine days of violent protests, the entire region has come to a complete halt in terms of business and trade.

Today, Punjab and Haryana High Court has asked the Haryana government to file status report on the Jat quota stir by Monday.

“The entire town is closed and the traders are sitting on dharnas,” said Rajender Bansal, President of Fasteners Manufacturers Association, Rohtak.

He said that the industry is feeling helpless as the government is not taking any steps to improve the situation for them.

He also said that labours have not work to do adding that we have to pay them for doing nothing.

Not only in Haryana, the situation is quite bad in neighbouring states like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh as well.

Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisation (FICO) President Gurmeet Singh Khullar from Ludhiana said that till now the situation is not normal.

“We don’t know that how long this will go on. The protestors have burnt our containers and our goods are stuck,” he added.

“No single truck has reached here so the industries have come to a halt,” Khullar said.

Col. S. Kapoor, Executive Director of Faridabad Industries Association (FIA) said that industries are working but supplies got affected due to the ongoing Jat agitation in the state.

He said that Maruti Plant in Manesar had shut down and most of the suppliers for the plant are from Faridabad.

"This has definitely hit the small industry," he said adding that the difference is now visible in the production.

Punjab's prominent industry verticals like cycle and cycle parts, readymade garments, iron and steel, auto parts are hit due to scarcity of raw material and disruptions in supply of finished products to buyers in other states. (KNN Bureau)
