Dehradun, Sept 19 (KNN) In the absence of centralized database where milk unions can update their day to day Milk Collection stock, production, finished stock, logistic details and payments reports, the Dairy Development Authority of Uttarakhand has felt for a need to develop Management information systems (MIS) software.

The primary objective of the project is to help top Management of take important decisions based on MIS reports and to achieve higher operational efficiency through tight integration of business processes in each of the 11 Member Milk Unions.

The system should be easier, cost effective and integrated and should be executable not only on Personal Computers but cheap devices like tablets (Costing Rs 4000-15000 only) and on Smart Phones too so that without any maintenance for Hardware and Software to work in remote areas as well as remain mobile, Dairy Development Department said in a press note.

Each Milk union maintains its own way of administering, reporting and operations by using computer or manual systems with different applications.

“At present each milk union is maintaining its own records which are difficult to communicate on daily basis at central level. Due to this it is difficult and time consuming to make decisions at central level regarding milk unions’ betterment. There is no centralized database where milk unions can update their day to day Milk Collection stock, production, finished stock, logistic details and payments etc reports,” it added.

By looking over this, need for process automation and MIS development is felt, the press note further stated.

In this context, the Dairy Development Authority of Uttarakhand has called for firms for creating, designing, developing, commissioning and operations of MIS software and installation of hardware at various Milk Unions, Chilling Centres and Milk Societies of Uttarakhand Development of integrated software, installation of hardware in and its operations.

Dairy Development activities in the state are running on three tier system of ANAND pattern.

In which primary milk co-operative societies are organized at village level, milk unions at district level and Uttarakhand Co-operative Dairy Federation at State level. There are 3600 primary village level milk co-operative societies and 11 District level Milk Unions are organized in the state.

At village level, farmers pour their milk in primary milk co-operative societies which are transported to district level milk union for further processing and distribution. Processed milk & milk products are marketed to the consumers through different sale agents.

Milk Union pays to the respective societies on the basis of quality and quantity of milk provided by each society.

Farmers are paid by individual societies on the basis of quality and quantity of milk provided by them to the milk society. “So an integrated system is required to put data in correct order and should be collected centrally in real time basis,” the authority said.

Project will be operated in two stages according to the number of districts covered. First stage comprises five district milk unions of Dehardun, Haridwar, Nainital, Udhamsinghnagar and Almora and second stage comprises milk unions of district Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli,Champawat and Pithoragarh.

In each stage project is likely to be completed in six month. It includes development of software on the basis of various modules of milk unions, milk chilling centres and milk societies, establishment of required hardware on these stations and web base data transfer in between milk societies, milk chilling centres, milk unions and state Head Quarter.
