Hyderabad, Jan 5 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Telangana have hailed Centre's announcement of Rs 41,000 crore road project in the state saying the move will boost infrastructure in the state.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday announced road projects of worth Rs. 41000 crores for Telengana. Two express highways from the city, one to Amaravati / Vijayawada and another to Bangalore, are part of the Rs.40,800-crore road development package announced.

Addressing media soon after landing in the city, Gadkari shared plans for construction of 550 km of express highway to Bangalore, of which, 210 kilometres will fall in Telangana, and 270 kilometres to Amaravati of which 190 kilometres will fall in Telangana.

Cost for the segments in Telangana amounts to Rs.8,400 crore and Rs.7,600 crore respectively for both projects.

President of Federation of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) Anil Reddy told KNN will boost the infrastructure.

He said that currently there are no ports so the export goods are sent to Tamil Nadu ports. “Now we would be able to send all our products to Andhra Ports,” he said.

The Project includes two Express Highways from the state capital Hyderabad to Bengaluru in Karnataka and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

He further added, “Maharashtra plays a vital road, as they offer good opportunities to industries, and encourages to exports the products through Maharashtra Ports.”

This will help to increase the competition among the three states, said the President adding that Southern and East India is not well connected. “After this more investors can come to south for investing,” he added.

As Telangana is a land-locked state, the Centre has taken a decision to construct a dry port on Godavari River.

The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, on Monday, laid the foundation stone of the four-lane Yadgir and Warangal section of NH-202 (new NH-163) of length 99 km costing Rs 1,424 crore. (KNN Bureau)
