Centre Lists MSME Amendment Bill Among Five New Bills For Monsoon Session
New Delhi, Jul 17 (KNN) The Centre has proposed five new Bills for introduction during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026, according to the tentative legislative agenda released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
The Monsoon Session is scheduled to commence on July 20, with the government also proposing the consideration and passage of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026. The legislative agenda is tentative and may be revised during the session.
MSME Amendment Bill To Strengthen Delayed Payment Mechanism
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 seeks to align the MSME Development Act, 2006 with the evolving needs of the sector.
It proposes measures to strengthen the mechanism for addressing delayed payments to micro and small enterprises, provide for the enforcement of arbitral awards involving MSMEs, and allow states greater flexibility in determining the composition of Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Councils.
Five New Bills On Legislative Agenda
Among the other proposed legislations is the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to make the intentional insult of, or disruption during, the singing of Vande Mataram a punishable offence under the 1971 Act.
The government has also proposed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, which aims to introduce stricter provisions for delayed registration of births and deaths.
The remaining Bills include the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026.
Pending Bills Also Listed
Apart from the new Bills, the government has included the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, introduced during the Budget Session, and the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhisthan Bill, 2025, which is currently under the consideration of a Joint Committee of Parliament.
