Puducherry, Sept 17 (KNN) Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra has said that the Centre is formulating an exit policy for the MSME sector and is also in process of framing a National MSME Policy for the benefit of the sector.

While talking to the media after an interactive session with MSME representatives here on Wednesday, Mishra said that the exit policy is being formulated with the dual objective of revival and rehabilitation of sick and unproductive entities.

Mishra said the set of new provisions, which are sought to be introduced through amendments to the MSME Act, 2006, would greatly benefit the MSME sector.

“We are also in the process of framing a policy for the exclusive development of the MSME sector. Stakeholder consultations are being initiated for evolving a National MSME Policy for the country,” he said, according to a media report.

The rollout of the Aspire schemes for promoting innovation, rural industry and entrepreneurship is one of the high-focus areas for the Ministry, Mishra said.

Schemes had also been drawn up to support existing traditional industries, develop skills and upgrade technologies and focus on quality that would make the units globally competitive. The Tool Room proposed for MSMEs in the Union Territory would be made operational shortly, the Minister said. (KNN Bureau)
