Chennai, Feb 24 (KNN) After the massive Chennai floods in Tamil Nadu in October last year, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises suffered a huge loss but the sector is yet to get the relief fund from the government.

Talking to KNN, Muthusami C, President of Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) said that the Government has established a State Level Banking Committee (SLBC) to review the losses and damage but it is already too delayed.

However, he said that Bankers have rescheduled the existing loan payments but other benefits are yet to be given.

Around 14000 MSME applications got accepted by the Bankers and they have availed the tax holiday, he added.

He also said that there are many MSMEs still left to avail the benefits and the association is informing them to get it soon.

We asked them to provide relevant information, Muthusami said.

On the other side, the General Secretary of Tamilnadu Micro and Small Industries welfare Association (TASIOWA) Umashankar said that the MSMEs have not yet got anything and nobody is listening to them.

He alleged that the Government is only helping the bigger players and nothing is being done for SMEs.

The record rainfall threw the operations completely out of gear for MNCs and MSMEs as well as that of numerous service and parts suppliers to these biggies in the industrial belt of Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallore last year. (KNN Bureau)
