GIZ holds MSME Innovation Knowledge Meet in Ludhiana to help MSMEs scale up innovation

New Delhi, Aug 27 (KNN) German development agency GIZ organized a MSME Innovation Knowledge Meet in Ludhiana to apprise the Regional BMOs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) about the support activities it provides and also to sensitize them about the latest innovation technologies cum best practices.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH or GIZ is organizing a series of knowledge enhancement meets in the Ludhiana region. The first such meet in the region was organized by GIZ with the support of FMC and Chamber of Industry and Commercial Undertakings (CICU).

Under the MSME INNO project, GIZ is working with regional BMOs and ecosystem stakeholders to promote innovation amongst regional MSMEs.

Participants from regional BMOs and their MSME members along with the experts from R&D departments of Punjab Agricultural University and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College were present at the meet.

The meet envisaged linking MSMEs with the investment promotion and facilitation agency - Invest India (AGNii) for available innovative technologies.

Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovations or AGNIi is a national initiative under the guidance and support of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. It aims to support the ongoing efforts to boost the innovation ecosystem in the country by connecting innovators across industry, individuals and the grassroots to the market and helping commercialize their innovative solutions thereby helping propel India into a new era of inclusive economic growth.

Pooja Monga, from Invest India (AGNii) made a presentation on relevant innovative technologies that are available and that can be adopted by MSMEs for their benefits.

Experts held brainstorming discussion with the MSMEs on action plan prepared for engagement with Ludhiana BMOs and in the end identify pain areas related to technology interventions.

Sarabjot Singh Saini, Technical Expert, GIZ and Nakul Rana, FMC highlighted the action plan prepared for BMOs of Ludhiana region based on the BMO survey conducted under MSME Inno project in order to take this forward.    

The MSME entrepreneurs present at the meet showed keen interest in exploring database of new innovative technologies available on website of AGNii (Invest India).

Some of the entrepreneurs stressed upon the need for improvement in approachability of regional technical centres in terms of connect with local MSMEs.

MSME Inno is an underway programme of GIZ. In association with the MSME Ministry, the programme supports institutions that promote economic development – such as business chambers and associations – in developing a range of innovation-enabling services for MSMEs.

In addition, GIZ provides advice on methods and instruments that can be used to identify opportunities for improving business operations and the supply chains of large companies.
