Mishra was speaking at a seminar titled ‘Improving Access to Finance: Stimulating Growth for MSMEs,’ organised by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) here yesterday.
“As has been advised by the Prime Minister, we will put in place a single-window clearance mechanism for the MSMEs and make all efforts to address the significant issues of raw material, marketing, capital and others in a specific timeframe,” he said while inaugurating the seminar.
However, he said that all these issues need to be discussed in totality and in an integrated manner.
On the issue of re-defining MSME, the minister said that the need has been felt to increase the limit of capital investment by various stakeholders in the MSME sector, assuring that the Government will hold discussions in this regard to ascertain what the new investment limit should be.
The Government, according to him, will make all efforts to revive sick industrial units in the MSME sector and take measures to prevent more units from falling sick.
The MSME Minister also pointed out that there is a need to leverage population and promote entrepreneurship across India instead of treating high population as a liability.
“Small industrialists must be imparted proper training for skill development purposes both at the public and private sector levels,” Mishra said, calling for measures to update technical skills of labourers to enhance their employability. (KNN/ES)
