IICA announces training program on Procurement & Contract Management for MSMEs

New Delhi, Oct 22 (KNN) Under the aegis of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) through its Centre for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is going to launch its 13th edition Virtual (Online) National Level Capacity Building Programme on “Procurement (Policy & Procedures based on GFR, GeM & E-Procurement) and Contract Management for Good Governance: Challenges in Implementation” spread over two weeks from 8 December, 2020 to 19 December, 2020.

IICA stated that the program brought together 54 senior procurement, project, commercial, finance & legal professionals involved in public procurement from different Government Departments and PSUs to share the best practices and to discuss the critical issues of today & the future.

IICA said capacity building programme is designed to provide intensive training to the senior procurement, Project, Finance, Legal professionals & supply chain managers involved in public procurement & supply chain from different Government Departments and PSUs.

IICA informed that the Capacity Building Programme focuses on the pertinent areas under existing public procurement guidelines such as Present Regularly Framework for Public Procurement, Introduction to Government e Marketplace (GeM), and its complete process from Sign up to catalogue management and Payments, Drafting of Commercial Contracts, Procurement Process, Bid documentation and Bid invitation (NIT), Make in India & Public Procurement etc.

Besides, one of the important feature of the program is about Futuristic Opportunities for SMEs & Corporate houses in Public Procurement through Offset policy and multiplier provisions.

Sound Public Procurement policies and practices are among the essential elements of Good Governance, significantly impact the economy by generating demand and consumption, promote local industry and improve SMEs access to public procurement.

Good practices reduce costs and produce timely results, poor practices lead to wastage of public funds and delays and are often the cause for allegations of corruption and inefficiency.

The event will witness speakers like Shri Rajesh Batra, Head-Centre for MSME/IP&CC, IICA, Principal Executive Director /RS (P), Railway Board, Indian Railways, Former Additional Secretary –Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India and Regional Manager -Business Services, Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
