India Launches National Single Window System to Streamline Business Approvals

New Delhi, Jul 6 (KNN) In a significant move to enhance ease of doing business in India, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has announced the launch of the National Single Window System (NSWS).

This digital platform, developed by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), aims to simplify the process of obtaining business approvals and registrations across central and state authorities.

The NSWS portal offers a comprehensive suite of features designed to streamline the often complex process of business compliance. At its core, the system provides centralised approval access, allowing businesses to apply for and track all necessary approvals from various ministries, departments, and states through a single platform.

This eliminates the need for multiple applications and reduces the time and effort required to navigate different governmental bodies.

A key innovation of the NSWS is its centralised document repository, where users can upload documents once and reuse them across multiple applications.

This feature is complemented by a real-time tracking system, enabling applicants to monitor the status of their applications as they progress through various stages.

To further assist entrepreneurs, the system includes an intelligent approval guidance feature called "Know Your Approval" (KYA), which helps businesses identify which approvals they need based on their specific circumstances.

Amit Kumar Tamaria, Joint Director (MSME Policy), highlighted the system's broad applicability in a letter dated July 4, 2024, stating, "The NSWS has a wide range of information/options available for business enterprises, which can be utilised by people who are in the initial stages of establishing a business."

The NSWS currently covers approvals and registrations from 32 Central Ministries/Departments and 27 States, including crucial services such as startup registrations, MSME registrations, and company incorporation.

Beyond its core approval functions, the NSWS also supports various investor incentive schemes, including programs for ethanol, leather and footwear, solar modules, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, and vehicle scrapping.

By integrating these schemes into the platform, the government aims to promote strategic sectors and sustainable practices while simplifying the process for businesses to access these incentives.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the bureaucratic hurdles faced by businesses, particularly MSMEs, in their establishment and operation.
