Industry honours MSME innovators

Kolkata, Sept 2 (KNN)  The 12th FOSMI Awards for Excellence 2013 held here on August-20 honoured various entrepreneurs in the MSME sector for excellence in different categories.
 
As many as 21 FOSMI Awards for Excellence were given away to entrepreneurs by chief guest at the event, former President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. 
 
Addressing the gathering, Kalam reiterated the importance of innovation during his presentation titled, “MSMEs lead to economic empowerment and prosperity of the nation.”  He spelt out the way ahead for small scale enterprises, his address liberally sprinkled with real life success stories.
 
The seminar, Technology and Innovation: The Future for MSMEs saw the participation of three eminent speakers namely, Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Sadhan K. Ghosh, Director, Calcutta Business School Dr. Goutam Sengupta and Senior Professor and Principal cum Dean, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science Suman K. Mukerjee.
 
Also speaking on the occasion, President FOSMI Biswanath Bhattacharya remarked on the growing significance of such motivational programmes for small entrepreneurs in the light of globalization and stiffer competition.
 
Others who participated in the programme included Chairman, 12th FOSMI Awards, Manas Ghosh and Madhumanti Moitra. 
 
Since its inception in 1996, the annual event has evolved into being the premier motivational programme in the eastern part of the country for small entrepreneurs belonging to micro, small and medium enterprises.  (KNN)
