Bengaluru, Feb 4 (KNN) With the State Budget to be tabled on February-14, industry bodies across the state have submitted their wish list to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah including creation of new industrial areas, reduction of VAT, reduction in property tax rate for industrial units, mandatory procurement from MSMEs for PSUs etc.

Representatives from the industry bodies including Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA), Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) yesterday had submitted their wish list raising common issues like VAT and infrastructure.

Stressing on the public procurement policy, industry body KASSIA has urged the chief minister to make it mandatory for all State public sector undertakings to procure at least 20 per cent of their requirements from the small scale sector.

According to the Public Procurement Policy, all Central Government Ministries, Departments and Public Sector Undertakings shall procure minimum of 20 per cent of their annual value of goods or services from Micro and Small Enterprises.

The association is also for abolition of trade licence system and reduce property tax rate for industrial units.

Further, raising concern over the escalating price of land for setting up units, KASSIA said that the government should ensure that there is no delay in land acquisition by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

In order to boost industrialization in the state to attract more investment, the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) said in its memorandum to build a new Bangalore on the outskirts of the City in order to attract industries.

The FKCCI urged the chief minister to create six new industrial corridors – Doddaballapur and Chikkaballapur; Chikkballapur and Devanahalli; Hubli and Dharwad; Mysore and Hassan; Mysore and Bangalore; Hoskote and Kolar.

It has also said that the government could project Chamarajnagar district as an attractive investment destination.

The Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) said the software sector has been facing multiple litigations under the Karnataka VAT laws and urged the chief minister to set up a forum to enable the dealers to present their concerns and arrive at a consensus. (KNN Bureau)
