Microsoft urges SMEs to upgrade PCs for improved performance

Vijayawada, May 3 (KNN) Microsoft India group has urged small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to upgrade their computers that are over four years old in order to bring down the annual expenditure.

In a meeting with its partners and the media to bring awareness among the SMEs here, Microsoft India group director (Devices) Farhana Haque said “About 30% of the SMEs in the country are still using personal computers that are older than four years while 61% of the PCs being used by SMEs are still running older versions of Windows, citing a survey report by Microsoft and Intel.”

Besides this, she pointed that the key findings of the survey revealed that the main barriers among SMEs in migrating to new devices were concerns of legacy applications not being able to work on a newer operating system and lack of budgets.

SME owners tend to focus often on short term costs, which in most cases are right, but at times it can lead to situations that cost more.

She said that SMEs play an important role in employment generation and economic growth in local communities and Microsoft is committed to help SMEs with the right set of tools and technologies to drive their operational efficiency and business growth.

In addition, SMEs are looking at the options for digitizing their businesses, and Microsoft is working with its partner ecosystem, which includes HP, Dell, Lenovo and Acer among others, to bring to SMEs PCs across price points that cater to their business and operational needs, she added.

With Windows 10, Microsoft ensuring that the businesses and their employees get the latest technology that also seamlessly supports the business applications they are currently using.
