MSMEs Account For 48.55% Of India’s Merchandise Exports In FY25: Government
New Delhi, Feb 7 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contributed 48.55 percent to India’s total merchandise exports in 2024–25, reaffirming their pivotal role in the country’s export ecosystem, the Government informed the Rajya Sabha.
In a written reply to a question, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said MSMEs continue to play a significant role across a wide spectrum of sectors, including labour-intensive and value-added industries.
To further strengthen export competitiveness, the Union Cabinet approved the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) on November 12, 2025, with a special focus on supporting MSME exporters in global markets. The Mission comprises two integrated components, Niryat Protsahan and Niryat Disha.
Niryat Protsahan aims to enhance access to trade finance through measures such as interest subvention, export factoring, collateral guarantees for export credit, credit support for e-commerce exporters, and credit enhancement for export diversification.
Niryat Disha, on the other hand, focuses on trade facilitation measures including export quality and compliance support, international branding and packaging, market access initiatives, export logistics and warehousing, inland transportation support, and trade intelligence.
The Minister further stated that participation in International Trade Fairs (ITFs) provides Indian businesses access to new markets and buyers.
Under the Market Access Support intervention of EPM–Niryat Disha, financial assistance is extended to facilitate participation in international trade delegations, exhibitions, and buyer–seller meets, aimed at expanding the global outreach of Indian exporters, particularly MSMEs.
