Mysore Export Centre estimated at Rs 8 crore to service Tier 2 cities

Mysore, Jun 27 (KNN)  Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for Mysore Export Centre here tomorrow.   When operational the Centre will provide all assistance related to export promotional activities under one roof for industries in the districts of Mysore, Chamarajanagara and Mandya. 

The project to come up in Hebbal Industrial Area here is an initiative of the Mysore Industries Association (MIA) that represents almost 40,000 industries in and around those districts.

The export centre will have facilities to conduct seminars, workshops and to showcase products of units in the region on a permanent basis; and will also provide all assistance related to export promotional activities under one roof, an official release said. 

The proposed building will be built across an area of 2019 sq mts area and built-up area of 2520 sq. mts having 4 floors.

Technical Consultancy Services Organization of Karnataka (TECSOK) has prepared the project report and applied for Rs 6 Crore ASSIDE assistance to VTPC (Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre) on behalf of Mysore Industries Association.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 8.  MIA has already deposited Rs 35 lakh in the bank out of its share of Rs 1 crore while another one crore is expected from the State Government as promoter’s contribution.

Previously, the area boasted Mysore traditional products like agarbathi, handicrafts, Mysore silk and Mysore sandal oil.  Of late, after industrialization of the region items such as filaments, tyres and tubes, rubber, polymer, structural plywood boards, medical equipment, paints, mechanical, pharmaceuticals, paper, animal feed, adhesives, garments, fabrics, telecom products, granite, food products, software, flavours, essence and enzymes are exported to the world market.

Presently, the export market turnover at Mysore is around Rs 7,000 crore per annum and after the inception of the export centre, it is estimated to increase to Rs 17,000 crore in the next 5 years with a cumulative turnover of Rs 50,000 crore, the official release said.
 
“These districts have a tremendous potential to achieve optimum growth in exports of industrial products. Further, 45 per cent of the export market is generated from small scale industries and it is a major employment generating sector when compared to agricultural sector,” MIA said.
 
MIA which was established in 1993 has been working for the betterment of the industries in Mysore, Chamarajanagara and Mandya districts, providing industrial information and assistance by organizing various seminars, workshops, holding industrial exhibitions and also inviting entrepreneurs to international and national visits.
 
Chief guests at the event are Revenue Minister and District in-charge Minister, Srinivas Prasad, PWD Minister, H C Mahadevappa, Co-operative Minister, Mahadev Prasad, Mysore City Corporation Mayor, N M Rajeshvari, Jilla Panchayath President, CJ Dwarakish, Parliament Members Prathap Simha, Druva Narayan, Puttaraju. 

National President Laghu Udyog Bharathi, HVS Krishna, Co-Chairman, Southern Council The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), J Crasta, Hon. Consul of Rwanda and Past Chairman Federation of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME), Mohan Suresh, Chairman, CII Mysore Zone, R C Jagadish, President Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, A S Sathish,  Chairman, Dist, co-ordination Committee, FKCCI, Bangalore, Sudhakar S Shetty will be also be present on the occasion.
