NTPC’s procurement from MSEs in 2018-19 was 37.59% while that from SC/ ST owned MSEs was 0.62%

New Delhi, Aug 2 (KNN) The state run NTPC Ltd, one of India's largest energy conglomerate, has made 37.59% of total annual procurement from the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) against the target of 25% under Public Procurement Policy. However, the procurement made from the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe-owned MSEs was just 0.62% against the target of 4% of total procurement value.

The total procurement made from MSEs (including MSEs owned by   SC/ST entrepreneurs) during the    year 2018-19 was Rs 1530.79 crore, which was 37.59% of   total annual procurement of Rs 4072.58 crore against target of 25% of total procurement made by your Company, NTPC said in its annual report 2018-19.

The total procurement made from MSEs owned by  SC/ST entrepreneurs during the year 2018-19 was Rs 25.09 crore, which was 0.62% against the target of 4% of total procurement value.

It  excludes Primary fuel, Secondary fuel, Steel & Cement, the Project procurement including R&M packages and procurement from OEM, OES & PAC sources.

The report further shows the current financial liabilities under which the total outstanding dues of MSEs for trade payables for goods and services was Rs 353.41 crore as on March 31, 2019.

According to the Public Procurement Policy under the MSMED Act 2006, every Central Ministry /Department / PSUs has to set an annual target for 25% procurement from MSE Sector. A sub-target of 4% out of 25% target of annual procurement has to be earmarked for procurement from MSEs owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs.

NTPC said it had organized 21 vendor development programmes for MSEs across the Company, out    of   which two vendor development programmes were exclusively organized for SC/ST MSE entrepreneurs.

Under its Capacity Addition Programme, NTPC as commissioned 24 TPD (Tons per Day) thermal gasification based demonstration scale Waste to Energy (WtE) plant at Varanasi to support technology development in India.

The Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is first converted to producer gas, which is then used to generate approximately 200 kW of electric power. Further, to promote Make in India concept, this Project has been awarded to a MSME player, said the company in the report. (KNN Bureau)
