Faridabad, Feb 22 (KNN) Haryana has suffered a loss of around Rs 20,000 crore due to on going Jat stir. Collateral damage has been done to businesses and industries in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh. However, the industries in one of the biggest industrial areas of Haryana-Faridabad- is not much affected directly.

The industrialists pointed that the supplies of raw material has got severely hit.

Talking to KNN, Col. S. Kapoor, Executive Director of Faridabad Industries Association (FIA) said that industries are working but supplies got affected due to the ongoing Jat agitation in the state.

"We had told our members to upgrade their security but fortunately Faridabad is not affected and destruction of property has not happened here," he said.

He said that Maruti Plant in Manesar had shut down and most of the suppliers for the plant are from Faridabad.

"This has definitely hit the small industry," he said adding that the difference is now visible in the production.

President of Fasteners Manufacturers Association (FMA) , Rajender Bansal, Faridabad, said that "We are incurring unaccountable loss and the Government is not able to handle the situation."

According to a report, the ongoing violent agitation in Haryana has already dealt an estimated blow of Rs 18,000-Rs 20,000 crore by way of loss to public and private property and halting trade, industry, small business and transport.

Since Haryana shares  borders with   Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and is the transit route to a number of national highways and trunk railway lines , the collateral damage to the economic activities to other states in terms of loss to production, transport and movement of people would add a few thousands crores more to the overall loss to the national economy, said industry body Assocham.

The Central Government has agreed to constitute a high level committee to give reservation to the Jats.  But protesters continued to block roads in some parts of the state, including the arterial Delhi-Ambala highway, demanding a written assurance that the community will be given reservation in jobs and education.
