Products from China cheap because of opaque subsidy, distorted price factors: Kalraj Mishra
New Delhi, Aug 10 (KNN) Responding to a question of the Chinese products giving tough time to the Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Union Minister for MSME, Kalraj Mishra informed Rajya Sabha that the prime reason for high price of domestic products as compared to the Chinese products is due to the opaque subsidy schemes of the Chinese Government.
The Minister added that the products manufactured in China are cheap as a result of the distorted price factors that exist across the border.
Mishra added that availability of credit, upgradation of technology and infrastructure continues to be important concerns surrounding the survival and growth of the domestic MSMEs.
Highlighting his Ministry’s commitment towards the sector, he said that the MSME ministry is dedicated on handholding and promoting the domestic units through various schemes and programs including Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Scheme, Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS), National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP).
Also there are programs such aimed at marketing assistance and technology upgradation (MATU), ZED Certification Scheme and Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) to help protect the sector. (KNN/ DA)
