Bengaluru, Jan 14 (KNN)  With a view to addressing challenges faced by several MSMEs in Karnataka, an awareness programme will be held here next week on schemes, incentives and concessions for the rehabilitation of silk industries.

Organised by the Ministry of MSME, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association, Bangalore (KASSIA), District Industries Centre, State Bank of Mysore and Mysore District Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Association (MDMSMEA), the programme is for the benefit of sick and incipient sick industries, said a press note by General Secretary, MDMSME Association, Suresh Kumar.

“Enterprising Industrialists of Karnataka are running their industries in spite of a number of challenges like global economic crises, non-availability of need based funds, unscheduled power cuts, lack of skilled labour and problems related to infrastructure, etc.  Presently 30 per cent of MSME’s are closed, 30 per cent are sick, 10 per cent are in the stage of incipient sickness and the remaining 30 per cent of MSME ’s are overcoming all challenges,” added Kumar.

During 2002, the then Industries Minister RV Deshpande, he said, had announced Sick Industries Rehabilitation Scheme which was a model to the nation.

MDMSME General Secretary thinks that the time is now right for the Industries Department, finance institutions and industry organizations to jointly propagate the scheme and bring awareness among industrialists on the matter.

According to him, potentially viable sick industries are eligible for Rs 2.5 lakh margin money assistance and deferment in payment of interest, tax and electricity bill dues.

MDMSME is a district level small scale industries organization of Mysore registered under KCSR act 1956 Government of Karnataka and MSMED Act 2006 of Government of India, serving the industrial fraternity by acting as a bridge between the government and entrepreneurs for healthy industrial growth in the region.  (KNN/ES)
