Training programme on aromatic crops cultivation, processing & marketing

New Delhi, Jan 15 (KNN) The Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre (FFDC) is conducting a training programme on commercial cultivation of aromatic crops, their processing and marketing from February 9 to 13, 2015 at its premises in Kannauj.

The objective of the course is to enable the participants to know the various aspects of aromatic plants including cultivation and extraction of oils. It will make them aware about the aspects of quality assessment, marketing and practical demonstration of various items related to fragrance and flavours.

The course content covers topics such as India and world scenario of essential oils, prospects of cultivation of medicinal and aromatic crops and introduction of aromatic crops.

It will also impart knowledge on cultivation practices of crops like Japanese mint, peppermint, spearmint, geranium, patchouli, lemongrass, citronella, palmarosa, rose, German chamomile, jasmine, basil, vetiver and lavender.

The participants will also learn to improve cultivation practices of medicinal crops like Safed Musli, Ashwagandha and Satawar during the five-day training programme.

There will be practical demonstration of nursery raising techniques of different aromatic crops, distillation of aromatic crops by field distillation unit, extraction and value addition of essential oils, quality assessment, end uses and marketing.

The training programme will also provide the participants a platform to share knowledge on new trends in essential oils industry and success stories with industry representatives. (KNN/ST)
