Workshop on aromatherapy and natural perfumes

New Delhi, Oct 10 (KNN)  To provide an overview of technological and commercial aspects of aromatherapy and natural perfumery, the Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre (FFDC) is organising a workshop for beauty experts, alternative medicine practitioners and entrepreneurs in the field.

The training cum workshop titled ‘Advances in Aromatherapy and Natural Perfumes’ will be held from October 25th to 27th here.

“The Programme is aimed to give an overview of technological and commercial aspects of aromatherapy and natural perfumery right from sources to application including quality assessment, blending and processing technologies,” said an official notification.

Significantly, the course covers advances in the subject such as psychological aspects of aroma, aroma in ayurveda, structure odour relationship, blending techniques, carrier oils, science behind aromatherapy etc.   Those working in the field would be updated on the subject.

Eminent personalities from academics and industry, with both national and international repute and with experience of more than a decade will be resource persons at the workshop.

The workshop would be beneficial to scientists, teachers, persons engaged in aromatic and medicinal plants activities, cosmetologists, aroma therapists, doctors, practitioners of alternative therapies, beauty experts and entrepreneurs who intend to enter this filed.

FFDC is a Government of India autonomous body under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, engaged in serving, promoting and developing the Indian MSME and associated farmers in the field of essential oils, fragrances and flavours and Aromatherapy.

Major activities of the centre include cultivation, processing, quality assessment and standardization of aromatic plants, development of fragrances and flavours and training on all aspects of essential oils, fragrances, flavours and aromatherapy.

Among the topics to be covered during the technical sessions are - Opportunities in Essential oils, Perfumery and Aromatherapy; Global and national scenario in Essential oils, Perfumery and Aromatherapy; Basics of natural fragrant materials, Perfumery and Aromatherapy; Sources, natural fragrant raw materials; Aroma in Ayurveda; Extraction methodology for natural fragrant raw materials.

Participants will also learn the effect of extraction techniques on odour and uses; Quality Assessment of natural fragrant materials; Olfaction Methodology, Structure and odour relationship, etc.  (KNN/ES)
