Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Review Key Schemes and Meet State Leadership During West Bengal Visit
New Delhi, Jul 13 (KNN) Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will undertake a two-day visit to West Bengal on July 13-14 to review the implementation of agriculture and rural development programmes and hold discussions with the state government.
During the visit, Chouhan is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, followed by a high-level review meeting with senior state and central government officials in Kolkata.
The review will cover the implementation of major schemes, including PM-KISAN, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations, Viksit Bharat–GRAM G, rural roads, housing initiatives and Panchayati Raj funding.
The discussions will also focus on the roadmap for strengthening agriculture and rural development in the state.
Later on July 14, the Minister will visit the ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres (CRIJAF) at Barrackpore, where he will interact with jute farmers, agricultural scientists and women from Self-Help Groups.
The interaction will cover issues related to jute cultivation, including retting, water availability, pest and disease management, production costs and market prices.
Scientists will present improved jute varieties, modern retting methods and water conservation practices, while Self-Help Groups will be introduced to opportunities in jute value addition and rural entrepreneurship.
