APEDA, Tripura Govt Hold Organic Buyer-Seller Meet to Expand Export Markets

New Delhi, Aug 14 (KNN) The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), in collaboration with the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency (TSOFDA) and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Tripura, organised an International Organic Buyer-Seller Meet in Agartala.

The meet aimed to strengthen market linkages for organic producers and provide opportunities for farmers, exporters and international buyers to explore potential business opportunities.

The event brought together around 200 participants, including more than 20 international buyers from Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Greece and Argentina, 27 exporters, 96 farmers representing 22 FPOs/FPCs and government officials.

The programme featured 12 stalls showcasing Tripura's organic and naturally produced products, including Queen Pineapple, GI-tagged Kalikhasa Rice, organic ginger and turmeric, black sesame, jackfruit and scented lemon.

The meet provided a platform for farmers, FPOs, exporters and international buyers to discuss sourcing opportunities, market requirements and potential business linkages.

Ratan Lal Nath, Agriculture Minister, Government of Tripura, attended the programme and highlighted the importance of connecting farmers and FPOs with international buyers to improve market access and income opportunities.

Apurba Roy, IAS, Secretary, Agriculture and Horticulture, Government of Tripura, and  Jennifer Chang, Executive Director, IFOAM Organics Asia, also attended the event and shared their views on strengthening the organic sector and expanding market opportunities.

The event also included the felicitation of organic farmers in recognition of their contribution to Tripura's organic agriculture sector.

APEDA continues to work with State governments, FPOs, exporters and other stakeholders on certification support, capacity building, infrastructure development, market promotion and international buyer linkages to strengthen India's organic export ecosystem.
