ASDC, SIDBI Launches "Nayi Raah" Initiative to Boost EV Sector in Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 1 (KNN) The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has unveiled a program aimed at empowering underprivileged individuals and bolstering India's growing electric vehicle (EV) sector.

The initiative, aptly named "Nayi Raah" (One Step Forward), was launched at The Kingdom College in Bangalore and is set to train 250 participants as Electric Vehicle Service Technicians (EVST).

Funded by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), this program represents a significant step towards addressing the skills gap in the rapidly expanding EV industry.

FR Singhvi, President of ASDC, emphasised the initiative's importance, stating, "Nayi Raah represents a critical step towards building a skilled workforce capable of supporting India's transition to electric mobility."

The comprehensive training program covers EV technology fundamentals, diagnostic techniques, battery management systems, and safety protocols.

In a notable collaboration, Tata Motors will provide practical training at its bus depots, offering participants real-world experience and potential employment opportunities.

Srinivas Dhanankar, GM Head of Tenders and Purchase at Tata Motors, expressed the company's support, saying, "We are proud to support the 'Nayi Raah' initiative, which aligns with our commitment to sustainability and community development."

SIDBI's involvement underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving skill development initiatives. Sandeep Varma, CEO of CGTMSE and Vertical Head of SIDBI's Programmes for Development and Impact Vertical Initiatives, highlighted the transformative power of such programs in fostering inclusive growth.

As India's EV sector continues to expand, initiatives like "Nayi Raah" play a crucial role in preparing a skilled workforce to meet industry demands. This program not only addresses the technical skills gap but also creates pathways for meaningful employment, particularly for underprivileged individuals.

The launch of "Nayi Raah" marks a significant milestone in India's journey towards sustainable transportation and inclusive economic growth. As the program unfolds, it is expected to have a lasting impact on both the participants and the broader EV ecosystem in Bangalore and beyond.
