Dipka OC Records 37.5 MT Coal Production in FY 2025-26; Targets 60 MTPA Capacity

New Delhi, Aug 4 (KNN) Dipka Opencast Project (OCP) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) produced a record 37.5 million tonnes (MT) of coal and dispatched 39.43 MT during FY 2025-26.

The mine’s production has increased from around 1 MT in 1992. Its Environmental Clearance has recently been enhanced to 40 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), with a roadmap for expansion to 60 MTPA.

During FY 2026-27, Dipka OCP produced 12.66 MT of coal up to July 25, 2026, achieving 104Percent  of its progressive production target and recording 30.5Percent  year-on-year growth. Coal dispatch stood at 13.87 MT, reaching 109Percent  of the progressive target.

The mine reported an overall profit of Rs 3,230.91 crore in FY 2025-26, with profit per tonne increasing to Rs 827.

Land acquisition and rehabilitation activities are being undertaken to support capacity expansion. Following possession of Malgaon village, rehabilitation and resettlement work for Hardi Bazar is underway.

A rehabilitation township is being developed with roads, schools, healthcare facilities, community amenities and public utilities.

Dipka OCP has multiple coal evacuation facilities, including Merry-Go-Round (MGR)-connected silos, First Mile Connectivity (FMC) silos, railway loading facilities and road transport systems.

These facilities support coal dispatch to consumers including NTPC Sipat and thermal power stations in western and central India.

The mine uses 42-cubic-metre electric rope shovels, surface miners, in-pit belt conveyor systems, silo loading facilities, drone-based monitoring and digital mine management systems for mining and operational activities.

Environmental measures at the mine include Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Systems (CAAQMS), fog cannons for dust suppression, wheel-washing systems, plantation, electric vehicles and plastic waste recycling facilities. Digital environmental monitoring systems are also being used for compliance and monitoring.

With the Environmental Clearance raised to 40 MTPA, Dipka OCP is undertaking land acquisition, rehabilitation and infrastructure-related activities as part of its proposed expansion towards 60 MTPA
