Electronics, Semiconductor Push To Unlock Manufacturing Opportunities In India: DPIIT Secretary

New Delhi, Jul 30 (KNN) India is expected to unlock major manufacturing opportunities as it targets a sharp expansion in electronics and semiconductor production, with annual output projected to reach USD 500 billion by 2030 and USD 5.3-8 trillion by 2047, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia said.

Speaking at the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) Dialogue 2026, the DPIIT Secretary said these targets are part of India’s broader development strategy.

Aligned with ‘Viksit Bharat’ Vision

Bhatia noted that the targets are aligned with the government’s Viksit Bharat initiative to make India a developed economy by 2047, with detailed sector-wise plans outlining long-term goals and interim milestones for 2030, ANI reported.

Scaling up production from the current baseline of around USD 330 billion would create substantial manufacturing opportunities across the sector, he added.

Focus on Reforms and Ease of Doing Business

The Secretary highlighted that India remains one of the fastest-growing major economies, supported by continued policy reforms and improved implementation over the past decade.

He pointed to the role of high-level committees working on sectoral reforms and a deregulation cell under the Cabinet Secretariat aimed at simplifying regulatory processes, particularly at the state level.

India–Germany Economic Ties

Bhatia noted that the IGCC, with over 2,500 members, continues to play a key role in strengthening bilateral industry collaboration. He added that increased business delegations in recent years reflect growing interest in expanding economic cooperation.
