Govt Increases Green Ammonia Allocation to 750,000 Lakh Ton Per Annum for Fertiliser Industry

New Delhi, Jun 27 (KNN) In a significant move to accelerate its National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Indian government has revised its guidelines, increasing the green ammonia allocation for the fertiliser sector from 550,000 lakh tonnes to 750,000 lakh tonnes per annum.

This decision comes in response to the growing demand for green hydrogen, as the nation intensifies its efforts to implement the mission launched in January 2023.

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) hailed this revision as "a significant step towards demand creation of green hydrogen and its derivatives in the country."

The National Green Hydrogen Mission, ambitious in its scope, aims to achieve a production capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum of green hydrogen by 2030.

Emphasizing the mission's importance, the MNRE stated, "It will contribute to India's goal to become Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) through clean energy and serve as an inspiration for the global Clean Energy Transition."

The ministry further highlighted the mission's potential to significantly decarbonise the economy, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a technology and market leader in green hydrogen.

This development underscores India's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its determination to play a pivotal role in the global transition to clean energy.
