India Diversifies Crude Oil Imports To 40 Countries Amid West Asia Conflict

New Delhi, Oct 19 (KNN) Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday said India faces no crisis in petroleum product supplies despite disruptions in global energy markets due to the conflict in West Asia.

Shekhawat said India had diversified its crude oil import sources, increasing the number of countries it imports from to 40, from 27 earlier.

“We have diversified our supply lines,” he said, adding that although gas supplies had been disrupted, the government had taken steps to maintain availability.

Shekhawat also said protocols had been established to prevent black marketing and hoarding of petroleum products, reported ANI.

LPG Supply Remains Uninterrupted

Meanwhile, the Union Petroleum Ministry on Friday said LPG supplies to domestic households remained uninterrupted, with deliveries also being maintained for hospitals and educational institutions.

According to ministry representative Sharma, domestic LPG production had increased by 30 per cent compared with March 5 levels, following higher output from refineries.

The ministry said commercial LPG cylinders had been placed at the disposal of state governments for priority distribution. States have been asked to establish criteria to ensure the cylinders reach intended consumers.

Shekhawat noted that the West Asia conflict had created energy supply concerns across several countries, citing emergency-like conditions in Pakistan and the closure of schools and colleges in Bangladesh.
