Textiles Ministry Holds Summit to Chart Roadmap for USD 100 Billion Exports by 2030

New Delhi, Jun 24 (KNN) The Ministry of Textiles held a departmental summit in New Delhi to formulate a strategy for raising India's textile and apparel exports from about USD 37 billion to USD 100 billion by 2030.

The summit, organised under the Cabinet Secretariat's Departmental Summits initiative, brought together representatives from states and Union Territories, district administrations, export promotion councils, industry bodies, exporters, financial institutions and academia.

The exercise follows consultations across 36 states and Union Territories and nearly 200 districts, which led to the preparation of State and District Export Action Plans.

Deliberations on the first day of the two-day summit focused on district- and cluster-led export growth, with discussions centred on major textile hubs such as Ludhiana, Tiruppur, Surat and Bhadohi.

Participants examined measures to improve competitiveness, strengthen value chains and align production with changing global demand, including the growing shift towards man-made fibre-based products.

A separate session explored opportunities in product development, design enhancement, value addition and technical textiles. Discussions also highlighted the role of branding, geographical indication (GI) products, material innovation and consumer-focused product development in expanding export markets.

Participants also discussed the role of integrated manufacturing ecosystems, including PM MITRA Parks, in improving the competitiveness of India's textile sector.

States and Union Territories participated in thematic sessions to identify region-specific opportunities and challenges emerging from their respective export action plans.

The recommendations from the summit will be consolidated into a National Textile Export Roadmap 2030, which will outline strategies for expanding exports, strengthening textile clusters and enhancing India's position in global textile and apparel markets.
