UIDAI Unveils Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK & Sandbox at Global Fintech Fest 2026

New Delhi, Sep 10 (KNN) The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Wednesday launched the Aadhaar Face Authentication Software Development Kit (SDK) and Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox at the Global Fintech Fest 2026.

These tools allow ecosystem partners to integrate, test and deploy Aadhaar-based face authentication more easily within their digital applications.

Face Authentication Within a Single App

The new SDK brings UIDAI’s Face Authentication capability directly into native Android and iOS applications, eliminating the need for users to switch between apps during authentication.

The ready-to-use SDK supports AI/ML-based liveness and anti-spoofing features, along with secure handling and encryption of authentication data.

It is designed to work across consumer smartphones and is expected to help government departments, banks, fintech companies and other organisations deploy face authentication-enabled services more efficiently.

Earlier, users needed the separate Aadhaar FaceRD app to complete face authentication from a banking, insurance or broking application. The new SDK allows authentication to be completed within the organisation’s own mobile app.

Sandbox for Testing

UIDAI also launched the Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox, a secure environment for organisations to integrate, test and validate the complete authentication journey before moving to production.

Developers and quality assurance teams can test user provisioning and consent, face capture, liveness checks, authentication, error handling and response validation without external biometric hardware.

The Sandbox also supports testing of failure scenarios, including invalid digital signatures, network interruptions, timeouts and spoofing attempts.

Face Authentication is used for services including Digital Life Certificate submission under Jeevan Pramaan, Ayushman Bharat beneficiary onboarding, direct benefit transfer schemes, Aadhaar-enabled payments, SIM activation through e-KYC and beneficiary authentication under schemes such as PM e-Drive, PM Awas Yojana and PM Kisan.
