19-Day long State Khadi Mela kicks off in Kolkata

New Delhi, Dec 18 (KNN) In an attempt to boost the Khadi sector in the state, West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) under the state's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department is organising a 19 day long Khadi Mela in Kolkata that kicked off recently.

The event commenced on December 15 and is to go on till January 2 2018 at at Taltala Maidan on 432 Prince Anwar Shah Road.

The event is to feature different products made by the Khadi industry and handicrafts of various categories.


The Khadi Mela is being organised with an aim to provide a platform for the Khadi producers and the buyers to connect.  Also cultural programmes are to feature in the 19-day long event.

A dedicated portfolio of the event is to feature food items including pickles, honey and the innovative nolen gur in tubes during the Mela.

The MSME Department is not charging any fee for the entry to the fair. Also in an attempt to boost sales via digital methods, the kiosks at the fair are powered by the Debi Card/Credit Card PoS machines, MSME-DI said in a press release. (KNN/DA)
