Ahead of popular festive sales, CAIT urges govt to bring ‘Anti-Predatory Pricing Act’ to regulate e- commerce biz in India

New Delhi, Oct 8 (KNN) Ahead to the popular festival sales of e-commerce giants in India,  traders' body Confederation of All India Traders Association (CAIT)  has urged the government to bring an ‘Anti-Predatory Pricing Act’ to regulate and monitor e-commerce business in India.

The trader's body has said that various discounts being offered by e-commerce retailers in their respective different festival sales are nothing but predatory pricing adopted by these sellers.

Instead of B2B trade activity they are indulged into B2C sales, which they are not allowed to do and is contrary to FDI policy of the government, said CAIT.

Concerned over this matter, trader’s body said “it is high time that government should bring an Anti Predatory Pricing Act to check such menace of e-retailers.”

Earlier in the month of September, CAIT also asked for early introduction of e-commerce policy in the country as they feel that in the absence of any policy, the e-commerce portals will play their "dirty game of predatory pricing", deep discounting and will vitiate the e-commerce market of the country.
