Amazon India – Telengana handloom collaborates to train weavers to sell online

New Delhi, August 8 (KNN) Eyeing at educating the weavers in the country to be able to sell their products online, the e-commerce giant Amazon India recently signed an MoU with the Telangana Department of Handloom and Textiles.

Amazon India in a press note informed about the collaboration. It said that the company will be collaborating with over 17,000 handlooms in the state through the Telangana Department of Handloom and Textiles.

The prime focus of the collaboration is to assist the weavers and artisans in Telengana in going digital.

The training program will cover aspects including registering on the Amazon sellers website, listing the products, etc. It will also provide the basic training of computer and internet to the beginners.

The company further said that along with providing an online market place for marketing, it will also assist the weavers and artisan to make their products look more attractive and appealing in order to boost their sales.

Telengana houses over 17,000 handlooms in the state working at tiny and micro levels, with majority of the clusters located in Pochampally, Warangal, Gadwal, Narayanpet and Siddipet region.
