New Delhi, July 3 (KNN) Electric Vehicle (EV) producers are in touch with the central government to formulate a concrete policy to decouple the battery from the EV, reported Business Standard.
With this they seek to develop a nation-wide battery-swapping infrastructure, people aware of the matter told Business Standard.
According to the EV industry with the FAME-II subsidy going in 2024, this move can reduce the cost of purchase, and thereby boost EV adoption.
With an optimistic attitude some industry players are of the view that India may have a nation-wide policy of decoupling batteries from EVs and swapping infrastructure by 2025.
An EV’s cost typically comprises of 40-50% accounting of batteries.
For over a year now meetings of stakeholders had been happening and at the moment work on standardising the battery used in vehicles is on. (KNN Bureau)
