IIT Delhi, Mercedes-Benz R&D India Sign 5-Year Research Pact On Future Mobility Technologies

New Delhi, Mar 7 (KNN) The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has partnered with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) to undertake joint research in areas related to future mobility and engineering systems.

Officials said on Thursday that the collaboration has been formalised through a five-year Master Research Agreement (MRA) to deepen cooperation between academia and industry. The initiative seeks to promote collaborative research and accelerate innovation in emerging mobility technologies.

Focus on Quantum Sensors and Battery Systems

As part of the initial phase of the partnership, the institutions will launch a research project focusing on quantum sensors and battery systems, two areas considered important for next-generation mobility solutions.

Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean, Corporate Relations, IIT Delhi, said, "We seek to advance high-quality research and generate impactful innovations that enable sustainable, affordable, and future-ready mobility. Our objective is to develop solutions that address India's mobility challenges while establishing new benchmarks for global impact," PTI reported.

Industry–Academia Collaboration

MBRDI, the largest research and development centre of Mercedes-Benz Group AG outside Germany, plays a key role in developing technologies related to connected, autonomous and electric mobility.
