IIT Kanpur Partners with Mars Antennas & RF Systems to Develop Smart EV Chargers and Hybrid Inverters

Kanpur, Mar 18 (KNN) The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mars Antennas & RF Systems Pvt Ltd to develop Smart Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers and Smart Hybrid Inverters for Energy Storage System (ESS) applications.

The partnership aims to foster research and industrial collaboration in energy-efficient solutions for India’s rapidly expanding EV and energy storage sectors.

Under the agreement, Mars Antennas & RF Systems Pvt Ltd will provide funding, industry insights, and access to manufacturing and testing facilities.

Meanwhile, IIT Kanpur will contribute its research capabilities and technical expertise. The project is led by Amarendra Edpuganti from the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering and is set for completion within 12 months.

Speaking about the collaboration, Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, emphasised its alignment with the National Manufacturing Mission.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to Clean Tech manufacturing, which includes boosting domestic value addition and strengthening the ecosystem for EV batteries, motors, controllers, and grid-scale batteries.

Amarendra Edpuganti, the project’s Principal Investigator, noted that the partnership will bridge the gap between research and industry applications.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to develop efficient and scalable solutions that will contribute to India’s EV and energy storage ecosystem,” he said.

Arbind Kumar Pilania, CEO of MARS Energy & Mobility, underscored the importance of industry-academia partnerships in advancing India’s clean energy goals.

He reiterated the company’s commitment to scaling up solutions developed with IIT Kanpur to generate revenue and employment opportunities in the region.

The project is expected to drive significant advancements in energy efficiency and EV infrastructure, reinforcing India’s push toward sustainable mobility and clean energy solutions.
