Ola records 1.5 lakh electric scooter sales in 2022; aims to launch more 2-wheelers

New Delhi, Dec 29 (KNN) After launching its first electric two-wheeler last year, Ride hailing platform Ola has sold nearly 1.5 lakh EVs in 2022, reported Mint.

The EVs are manufactured under Ola Electric which faced major criticism last year on a range of issues.

Despite the odds, Bhavish Aggarwal co-founder and chief executive officer said in a blog post on Wednesday that Ola is set to launch more electric two-wheelers including a mass market scooter, premium motorcycle, and a mass motorcycle, in the next couple of years.

Terming 2022 the “Beginning of the End for ICE Age," as the year marks the shift from internal combustion engines (ICE) to EVs, said Aggarwal.

“We have sold almost 1,50,000 EVs this year and are working towards the Mission Electric – all 2W sold in India by the end of 2025 to be electric, and all cars sold in India by 2030 to be electric,” he said.

Ola Electric currently offers two electric scooters - Ola S1 Pro and Ola S1, while a lower-priced version, Ola S1 Air, is expected to hit the roads in April next year after its launch in October.

Additionally, Ola aims to launch about six electric four-wheelers by 2027, after its first four-wheeler‘s launch, expected in 2024.  (KNN Bureau)
