Union Minister Nitin Gadkari sets Rs 15 lakh cr as target for auto industry

New Delhi, Dec 17 (KNN) Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday that the government aims to take the automobile industry to Rs 15 lakh crore.

The industry is currently at Rs 7.5 lakh crore, said the minister.

“This will create a lot of new jobs and will make India one of the biggest automobile manufacturers in the world,” said the minister while addressing the 95th FICCI Annual convention.

He also said that before the end of 2024, road infrastructure in India will be equal to the US standard.

"We are making the World Standard Road infrastructure in the country and promising you that before the end of 24, our road infrastructure will be equal to the standard of the USA, American standards,” he said.

Speaking on the issue of logistics cost, he said that it is an effort to take up to 9 percent from 16 percent by the end of 2024.

The minister showed confidence that in near future, green hydrogen will be a source of energy.

He emphasised on the fact that India is in an excellent position to shape itself as an energy exporter.  (KNN Bureau)
