E-commerce policy will be announced shortly: CAIT

New Delhi, Feb 8 (KNN) The much awaited e-commerce policy, proposed by Ministry of Commerce, is almost ready and will be announced shortly, confirmed the traders body Confederation of All India Traders’ Association (CAIT).

In a statement, CAIT said “In a conversation with senior officials of Ministry of Commerce it was assured that e-commerce policy is almost ready and will be announced shortly.”

The e-commerce policy is a policy proposed regulate the e-commerce sector.

As far as formation of a regulatory authority is concerned, CAIT was told that the government would like to assess the post e-commerce policy announced situation and if need be arise, a regulatory authority will be constituted.

The traders’ body said “It was made very clear that the government is concerned about small traders of the country and that is why the internal trade has been brought under the domain of Commerce Ministry and renaming DIPP as Department for Promotion for Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

In addition, it stated that the Ministry will discuss core issues of internal trade with traders across country very shortly and suitable steps will be taken to resolve the issues. A National Trade Policy for Retail Trade will also be worked out.
