Centre Says NMEEE Continues Through PAT, Indian Carbon Market Framework

New Delhi, Jul 28 (KNN) The Ministry of Power is not considering any proposal for a new generation of the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE 2.0), the government informed the Rajya Sabha.

Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik said the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE), one of the missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), continues to promote energy efficiency through policy and market-based mechanisms, including the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) programme.

PAT Sectors Transition to Indian Carbon Market

The government said seven energy-intensive sectors, aluminium, cement, chlor-alkali, pulp and paper, petroleum refinery, petrochemicals and textiles, covered under the PAT programme have now been transitioned to the Indian Carbon Market (ICM) framework.

ADEETIE Scheme Targets Energy Efficiency in MSMEs

To improve energy efficiency among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the ministry launched the Assistance for Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries and Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme in July 2025.

The scheme targets MSMEs operating across 60 industrial clusters and 14 energy-intensive sectors by facilitating Investment Grade Energy Audits (IGEAs) to identify suitable energy-efficient technology interventions.

Interest Subvention to Support Technology Adoption

It also provides financial assistance through interest subvention of 5 percent for micro and small enterprises and 3 percent for medium enterprises to support the adoption of identified technologies.
