Govt allows movement of stranded workers with conditions

New Delhi, Apr 30 (KNN) Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has allowed the movement of migrant workers, stranded in other states for nearly more than a month.

“All states and UTs have been asked to designate nodal authorities and develop standard protocols for receiving and sending stranded persons. The nodal authorities shall also register the stranded persons within their states and UTs,” said the MHA directive dated April 29.

The directive further said that on arrival at their destinations, they would be assessed by the local health authorities and kept in home quarantine, unless the assessment requires keeping a person in institutional quarantine.

“They would be kept under watch with periodic health check-ups. For this purpose, such persons may be encouraged to use Aarogya Setu app through which their health status can be monitored and tracked,” MHA added.

Earlier, several states, including UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, had urged the centre to come up with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for movement of stranded workers, students, tourists and pilgrims in different parts of the country.
