Govt Launches Anti-Dumping Probe Into Electrical Steel Imports From China And 3 Others
New Delhi, Jun 24 (KNN) India has initiated an anti-dumping investigation against imports of Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Electrical Steel and Amorphous Metal from China, Japan, South Korea and Russia, following a complaint filed by JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik Pvt Ltd with the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the commerce ministry announced.
The applicant alleged that cheap imports of the product are causing significant harm to the domestic industry. Acting on prima facie evidence submitted with the application, the DGTR has formally opened the investigation to determine the existence, degree and effect of the alleged dumping, PTI reported.
If the probe establishes that dumped imports have caused material injury to domestic producers, the DGTR will recommend imposition of anti-dumping duties. The finance ministry holds the authority to make the final decision on levying such duties.
What the Product Is Used For
Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Electrical Steel and Amorphous Metal are primarily used in the manufacture of power and distribution transformer cores. Both materials serve the same consumer base — transformer manufacturers supplying to utilities, industrial users and renewable energy projects.
Other Probes Also Initiated
India has simultaneously initiated anti-dumping investigations against imports of sodium nitrite from China, and Para Nonylphenol from Russia and Taiwan.
