IT Dept asks taxpayers to e-file statement by Jan 31 else face penalty of upto Rs 1 lakh

New Delhi, Jan 28 (KNN) The Income Tax Department under the Central Board of Direct Taxes has asked the taxpayers to e-file TDS (Tax deducted at source) statement by 31st January, 2022. 

As per the notice, in case of missing the deadline, late fee of Rs 200 per day and penalty of upto Rs 1,00,000 will be charged. 

To download the TDS certificate it mandatory to generate Form No. 16/18A/16B/16C/16D, from TRACES Portal hittpts://www.tdscpc.gav.in. 

The certificate is only valid if downloaded from TRACES portal, and if the PAN is incorrect or not specified in the -filed statement, TDS certiticate cannot be downloaded.

The department also said that of there’s delay in issue of TDS certificate, Rs 100 per will be fined behind per certificate for each day of default.
