'Nari to Narayani': 1 woman in every SHG to be made eligible for loan of Rs 1 lakh under MUDRA scheme

New Delhi, July 5 (KNN) The punch line ‘Nari to Narayani’ used by India’s first full-time woman Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget Speech shows that this year the Budget has given big impetus to empowerment of woman.

Sitharaman said there was no segment where the contribution of women was not significant.

The Finance Minister proposed a broadbased committee to evaluate and suggest actions for moving forward on gender analysis of budget.

To further encourage women entrepreneurship, Sitharaman proposed that Women Self Help Group (SHG) Interest Subvention Programme will be expanded to all districts in India

She said for every verified woman SHG member having a Jan Dhan account, an overdraft of Rs 5000 will be allowed.

One woman in every SHG shall be made eligible for a loan of 1 lakh rupees under MUDRA scheme, she said.

In a boost for women self-help groups, Sitharaman announced the expansion of the interest subvention

Modi government had initiated various measures for women during its first five years.

BJP, in their poll manifesto, promised to provide collateral-free credit of up to Rs 50 lakh for entrepreneurs, out of which 50% of the loan amount will be guaranteed towards female entrepreneurs.
