Raygada District to apply for GI tag for traditional Dongria shawl

New Delhi, Oct 31 (KNN) In a bid to prevent duplication of Kapdagunda- traditional shawl of the Dongiras, the Rayagada district administration is in the process of applying for the geographical indication (GI) tag for the fabric.

The decision to apply for the tag comes as a response to the some traders making replicas of the product.

In order to curb the practice and preserve the unique identity of the shawl, the district administration, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and Dongria Kondh Development Agency (DKDA) have decided to apply for GI tag. (KNN/DA)
