Skill development education must be linked with employment

New Delhi, July 25 (KNN) Skill development education has to be linked with employment opportunities. It is necessary to provide employment at the end of skill education programs, said Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development and Employment Generation Mission Chairman Hemant Vijayrao Deshmukh.

He was speaking at a symposium session organized by the Assam Skill Development Mission as a part of 2 day skill conclave which began on Monday.

Addressing the session discussion and sharing the best practices followed by MP, he said in Madhya Pradesh, we have tied up employment exchanges with the skill development mission and more than 1.5 lakh youths have been provided jobs.

The symposium included panel discussions on the importance of recognition of prior learning in ecosystem, entrepreneurship and self-employment and the national apprenticeship promotion scheme.

A presentation on the conclave and initiatives of the Assam Skill Development Mission was given by the director of the mission, Anand Prakash Tewari.

He elaborated on the various initiatives, which were undertaken from the grassroots level, to create a sustainable skill ecosystem for convergence of quality skill training and encourage budding entrepreneurs in different sectors.

Sharing the best practices followed by State Skill Development Missions, mission director of Haryana Skill Development Mission Raj Nehru said in Haryana, we have seen industries adopt globalization and technology. We linked skill training directly with the industry. We designed an out-campus model for skill education and integrated the courses with the industry.

Classrooms have been started inside the industry to provide the youths with a chance to work while being trained and the curriculum is shaped for on-the-job training. The faculty is also trained within industries, he added.

Arunachal Pradesh Skill Development and Entrepreneurship director Subu Tabin also deliberated at length on the relevant issues.

Besides this, a job fair was also organized with an aim to recruit around 10,000 youths in different sectors.

Also, Counters had been set up to register the candidates coming from different districts of the state.

After completion of registration, the candidates were called for sector- wise screening and assessment at the stalls set up by the organizations and offer letters were handed on the spot.

More than 25 organizations participated in the job fair from different sectors like construction, textile, BPO, tourism and hospitality, retail, manufacturing, security, logistics, beauty and wellness, IT and others.
