Subhash Chandra Garg assumes charge as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs

New Delhi, July 14 (KNN) Senior bureaucrat Subhash Chandra Garg today assumed charge as secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in the finance ministry.

He succeeds Shaktikanta Das, who retired after an extended tenure on May 31. Corporate Affairs Secretary Tapan Ray was given additional charge of DEA secretary after Das’ exit.

“The Central Government has nominated Subhash Chandra Garg, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi as a Director on the Central Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India vice Shaktikanta Das,” the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a release.

The nomination of Garg is effective from July 12, 2017 and until further orders.
