Textile Exports up by 3.2 per cent in last three years: Ministry

New Delhi, Aug 4 (KNN) Highlighting the growth of the textile sector, Minister of State, Textiles, Ajay Tamta informed Lok Sabha that the textile export has registered a positive growth in the last three years.

The Minister said that the sector is following a positive trend, with a 3.2 per cent growth rate.

Citing figures, the Minister said that in 2014-14, the total value of textile exports stood at 2, 47,546 crore rupees. This increased to 2, 50,712 crores in the following year.

Further the sector exported textile worth 2, 63,494 crore rupees in the previous fiscal.  

The various schemes and policies introduced by the government has helped the sector achieve these numbers, Tamta Said. 

Special package for apparel and made-up segments of Indian textile industry, enhanced duty Drawback Coverage and rebate of State Levies (ROSL) on export of garments and made-ups, additional incentives under Amended Technology Upgradati on Fund Scheme (ATUFS).

Also policies including scheme for production and employment linked support for garmenting units, employee provident fund scheme reform, Pradhan Mantri Paridhan Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMPRPY), reforms in labour laws and enhanced incentives have boosted the textile industry, Tamta added.
