Telangana's Aerospace, Defence MSMEs Rise To 1,500-2,000 From 400 In A Decade

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (KNN) The number of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) supplying Telangana's aerospace and defence sector has increased to around 1,500-2,000 from over 400 a decade ago, strengthening the state's position to tap domestic and export opportunities.

Telangana's Aerospace, Defence MSME Base Grows Fivefold

Telangana Director for Aerospace and Defence Praveen PA said the state has developed a strong defence manufacturing ecosystem over several decades, supported by its presence in the country's missile, aerospace and defence industries.

He said the growth in the MSME base has positioned the state's aerospace and defence ecosystem to benefit from opportunities in both domestic procurement and exports.

The state government is also identifying dedicated land parcels and supporting smaller enterprises seeking to integrate into global supply chains, reported ANI.

Defence PSUs Strengthen Telangana's Manufacturing Ecosystem

Krishna Aditya S, Special Secretary, Telangana Department of Industries and Commerce, said the state's ecosystem has been strengthened by the presence of defence public sector undertakings (PSUs) and their ancillary units.

He said the government is focused on increasing export orientation by providing support to MSMEs operating in the sector.

MSME Integration Can Boost Defence Exports

Indian Chamber of Commerce Director General Rajeev Singh said Hyderabad is among India's major aerospace and defence hubs and greater MSME participation could strengthen domestic manufacturing.

He said integrating smaller manufacturers with larger companies could help India reduce dependence on defence imports and expand exports.

Defence MSME Forum Highlights Global Opportunities

The remarks were made on the sidelines of the second edition of the Defence MSME Manufacturers Forum organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Hyderabad.

The forum was held under the theme, Make in India for the World: Empowering MSMEs for India's Defence and Aerospace Future.
